What Zippy Likes in June 2009

Zippy had her last day of preschool last Thursday, and she filled out a form (with the help of one of her teachers) about her outlook on life in June 2009. Here are her responses:

My name is: Zipporah or (Zippy)
I am: 5 years old
My favorite food is: Chocolate chip cookies or Ice Cream
My favorite color is: Pink
My favorite toy is: My Barbie thing that talks and sings
I have: 0 sisters and 1 brother
I live in an: apartment
In the town of: Apple Valley
I have: 0 pets
My friend’s names are: Courtney & Kaitlyn, From Colorado, Chloe, Lacie, Ariel, Jaden, Amelia, Jenna, Ethan, Logan, Kylie, Alexandra, Penelope.

I don’t think there’s anything too controversial there.

By the way, we have some videos to upload, but I haven’t found a good way to upload videos without having them public on YouTube and yet still usable on a blog. WordPress has a pay solution that I may end up using, but we’ll see. If anybody has ideas, I’m game.

Night at the Big “A”

img-1

Carey and I got some tickets earlier this evening from Harold and spent the evening together at an Angel’s game.  I know many of you read this blog to see pictures of the kids.  Live in disappointment.  We had seats on the club level, so that means a waitress came around to take our orders for sushi and turkey wraps.  Baseball in California.

P1010296Here’s how the Big “A” looks these days.  Looks a lot different than when I was a kid, back when the Rams played there and the stadium was a complete circle.  The building out in the distance on the right is the Honda Center (formerly known as the Pond) where the Anaheim Ducks hockey team play.

P1010307It was Friday night fireworks night.  (How about that fireworks setting on the old digital camera?)

Trip to Chuck E Cheese

Today we meet up with some friends at our local Chuck E Cheese.  We always have fun when we go there, even me!

In this picture, it’s Zippy again, our friend we met previously at Chuck E Cheese, and Sunshine’s brother, Donovan.

And here we have Phinehas climbing in the “climbing thing”. :-)

Phinehas on the Interwebs

Yes, Phinehas is all about cruising the net.  He recently turned 3, but enjoys the information superhighway.  His favorite sites include Playhouse Disney and Nick, Jr.  For internet security, we use Glubble.

Baseball Game Pictures

We went with some friends from church to a local Minor League baseball game on Saturday night (5/16/2009).  Our beloved High Desert Mavericks lost to some team called the Stockton Ports.  On a side note, look at a map of California some time, and find Stockton.  It’s up by Sacramento and yet still has Ocean-going vessels docked in it’s fair city.  Frightens me every time I drive through Stockton.  You go from cows and fields to giant freighters in about 2 minutes.  Yet another reason why that area of Southern Oregon that some people call “Northern California” should leave those of use who actually live in California alone.  :)

Zippy at a Mavs Game - May 16, 2009

Anyway, Zippy caught a foul ball with her head and got it signed by a giant costumed bovine that goes by the name “Wooly Bully”.  It was one of those entertaining foul balls that has so much spin it skips off of 5 people’s hands before it bounced off my lovely daughter’s 5 year-old skull and settled right next to my lovely wife.  Yes, I kept score during the game, and yes, everyone made fun of me.  They still laughed at me even though I was the only who knew the answer to the trivia question of the night (Branch Rickey was responsible for creating what we now know as minor league baseball), but even though Carey turned in our (correct) answer, some other person (probably a Yankees fan) won the 50 dollar prize.

For time capsule reasons, I’ll mention that the best player on the field was “Big Joe” Dunigan, who plays for the Mavs.  He’s 6′1″ 215 lbs., and built like a water tower.  As of this writing, he’s batting .362 with 13 HRs, 9 SBs and 41 RBIs in only 36 games.
